Questionné par la radio suédoise, Hans Corell, ancien chef du Bureau des affaires juridiques de l'ONU, a déclaré qu'il partageait pleinement les protestations du gouvernement suédois. La position suédoise correspond tout à fait à celle que j'ai exprimée dans un avis de droit que j'ai formulé pour le Conseil de sécurité quand j'étais chef du Bureau des affaires juridiques de l'ONU. Ce n'était pas sur la pêche, mais sur l'exploration pétrolière. Le problème est le même. De grands efforts ont été faits par l'ONU pour trouver une réponse à la question du statut du Sahara Occidental. Je ne crois pas qu'un tel accord [sur la pêche] contribuera à trouver une solution à cette question, a ajouté Hans Corell.
22.05.06 : Sweden was the only country that voted no. “Western Sahara is not part of Morocco, the people there have the right to decide themselves over their natural resources, we stand up for our principles and therefore we voted no”. Said minister of agriculture Ann-Christin Nykvist.
