In a letter to Congressman Pitts, Robert Zoellick, the United States Trade Representative said:
"The Administration's position on Western Sahara is clear: sovereignty of Western Sahara is in dispute, and the United States fully supports the United Nations' efforts to resolve this issue. The United States and many other countries do not recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and have consistently urged the parties to work with the United Nations to resolve the conflict by peaceful means.">> read more

[Aps 20/7/04] Algiers - The Foreign Ministry issued a statement Tuesday in which Algeria's attachment to African and international legality as concerns the Western Sahara issue" is reasserted.
"It is a decolonisation matter to be completed on the basis of people's right to assert themselves through the scrupulous and diligent implementation of the Baker peace plan for the Sahraoui people's self-determination", the statement went on. (no link)
